Tamil Nadu District Skating Action Heats Up: TNRSA Announces September Championship Dates.


The TNRSA has officially released the 2025 District Roller Skating Championships schedule, spanning key districts across Tamil Nadu. Highlighted below are major events happening this month:

• Cuddalore: September 13–14 — speed, freestyle, and artistic skating competitions await.

• Dindigul: Multiple rounds on September 6, 13, and 14.

• Erode: One-day showdown on September 21.

• Kanchipuram: Speed event only, from September 26 through 28.

• Dharmapuri: A highlight one-day event on September 27.

All championships are currently open for participation. Skaters and teams eager to compete are encouraged to register promptly. These district-level competitions are stepping stones toward the state wide finals and beyond. Stay tuned for upcoming updates on additional district events, venues, and participation guidelines as the season progresses.

Skating by day, coding by night: Engineering student Anandkumar's road to glory

He came in chasing a podium. He left as a world champion. Anandkumar Velkumar, a 22-year-old speed skater from Chennai, did what very few Indian athletes have even dared to dream of. At the World Speed Skating Championships in Beidaihe, China,   he zipped past the competition to take gold  and also become India’s first-ever world champion in inline speed skating. All this while splitting his time between dodging traffic during early training sessions in Chennai and late-night assignments as a computer engineering student. “It actually felt really amazing to be world champion in my sport.
